Our other big thing last night was the chance to play a track from Candye Kane's new album on Delta Groove, due in the shops Stateside on 16th August (not sure when over here). Shes with Laura Chavez who brings some real neat playing. Another strong project from one of our favourite artists.
Ironing Board Sam has just joined the STAR BLUES faithful and we were able to play a funky piece he did in the Seventies for Sansu. His nickname came from balkancing his keyboard on an ironing board for a club gig in his early days, he's since played underwater in a 1500 gallon tank.
Courtesy of Noble Thin Man Watts we had some sax on the side, "Slummer The Slum" from the Five Royales and "T-99 Blues" from Jimmy Nelson. Steve Cropper's newest project is "Dedicated" to Lowman Pauling's Five Royales and he had Steve Winwood on vocals. Marion Williams did gospel duties, Peetie Whetstraw on keys and robust electric blues was by Freddie King.
Another two hour show that whizzed past thanks to your kind invitation to your place.
